Dr Joan Deetman

Dr Joan is passionate about horses & veterinary science. She has devoted her life to the ongoing accumulation of knowledge & veterinary skills.
​
As a Senior Equine & Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, Dr Joan has amassed a wealth of knowledge in many disciplines within the equine & veterinary industries.
​
With a solid background in Sport Horse Medicine, especially medicine of the Endurance Horse, plus special interests as an Equine Rehabilitation Practitioner, Dr Joan offers a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation services.

Equine Vet
Dr Joan has a long, solid background in the equine industry. From early years in the Thoroughbred breeding industry (incl. Heytesbury & Yalebra Studs) to international Official FEI Endurance & Eventing Vet, Dr Joan has solidified her equine passion into her qualifications and ongoing Continuing Vet Education & Research.
Joan has current studies & research as an Equine Rehabilitation Practitioner & is a member of the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology.
Small Animal Vet
Pet Dentistry and Emergency Medicine are 2 areas of special interest for Dr Joan. All medical and soft tissue surgery services are offered in her clinic where clients will appreciate Joans' straight forward & common sense approach to veterinary care for all pets.

Dr Joan is well known in the WA Endurance Community having supported the WAERA group for over 25 years.
Team Vet for numerous Tom Quilty events around Australia, including Hospital Treatment Vet and setting up Field hospitals.
FEI positions around Australia and NZ for Endurance and Eventing.
EDUCATOR
Kids Vet Club is Distance Education Program designed to introduce kids to the study of Vet Science.
The purpose of the program is to allow kids to explore vet study to see if Vet Science is a career path they wish to follow.
Dr Joan created the course in 2017. Suitable for kids 10-18 years old, KVC now has over 500 members worldwide.
