Dr Joan Deetman

Dr Joan Deetman is an experienced Senior Equine & Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, and is also qualified in Veterinary Western Herbal Medicine. Joan has amassed a wealth of knowledge in many disciplines within the veterinary industry. Joan has a solid background in multiple equine disciplines after spending a lifetime in the industry.
After working as an FEI 3* Official Equine Endurance Vet, FEI Official Treatment Vet & Eventing Vet, for the past 30 years, along with routine equine practice, Joan is now concentrating on developing her services in the fields of Advanced Wound Care in all animals & Veterinary Western Herbal Medicine.

Equine & Small Animal Vet
Dr Joan has a long, solid background in the equine industry. From early years in the Thoroughbred breeding industry (incl. Heytesbury & Yalebra Studs) to international Official FEI Endurance & Eventing Vet, Dr Joan has solidified her equine passion into her qualifications and ongoing Continuing Vet Education & Research.

For small animals, medical consultations and some surgery is available. Joan is available for consultations in all aspects of Veterinary medicine, Veterinary Western Herbal Medicine and advanced Wound Care using Laser Therapy, available to all her small & large animal clients.
Veterinary Herbalist
As a qualified veterinary herbalist, Joan can work as an Integrative Veterinarian, utilising all aspects of traditional veterinary medicine with Veterinary Western Herbal Medicine in her consultations.

Dr Joan is well known in the WA Endurance Community having supported the WAERA group for over 25 years.
Team Vet for numerous Tom Quilty events around Australia, including Hospital Treatment Vet and setting up Veterinary Field hospitals.
FEI positions around Australia and NZ for Endurance and Eventing.

EDUCATOR
Kids Vet Club is a Distance Education Program designed to introduce kids to the study of Vet Science.
The program's purpose is to allow kids to explore vet study to see if Vet Science is a career path they wish to follow.
Dr Joan created the course in 2017. Suitable for kids 10-18 years old, KVC now has over 1000 members worldwide.
